GRANO from ROKA: a manifesto for a modern entryway

Laureat Archiproducts Design Awards 2024

In the world of design, there are awards that celebrate aesthetics and set the course for the entire industry. The Italian Archiproducts Design Awards are among them. This prestigious award increasingly emphasizes the role of design as a cultural vehicle for innovation, craftsmanship, and technology year after year. In the 2024 edition, the award went to ROKA’s GRANO model — a door that has become more than just a product. It has become a sign of the times.

The Archiproducts Design Awards are where icons are born

The ADA is a competition that does not recognize compromise. Products submitted from all over the world are judged by a multidisciplinary jury of architects, industrial designers, curators, and thinkers who evaluate both form and concept. GRANO impressed them all with its poetry, boldness, and masterful use of materials. On November 14, at a gala in Milan, the model was honored as a symbol of a new approach to front door design—one that is bold, sensual, and timeless.

GRANO is an architectural sculpture of metal and light

David Legierski’s project tells the story of matter and precision. The door’s façade features a hand-oxidized metal mosaic by De Castelli composed of brass, copper, and steel that creates a dynamic structure reminiscent of a landscape. Each panel is unique, etched and patinated with irregular light refractions. This is living metal.

Furthermore, the mosaic can “spill over” the entire building façade, both horizontally and vertically, transforming the entrance into a thoughtful architectural setting. This is not simply cladding. It’s a design language that transcends utility to create new meanings.

Technology with weight

Sophisticated engineering lies beneath the artwork’s surface. The ROKA specialty pivot mechanism effortlessly opens a sash weighing up to half a ton. The movement is quiet, smooth, and almost ritualistic. This technology supports the form rather than dominating it, offering comfort in the details and luxury in the function.

With ift Rosenheim certification, GRANO meets the highest standards in thermal and acoustic insulation. GRANO is the perfect solution for those who don’t want to choose between beauty and performance.

Behind the Doors: A Philosophy of Place and Transition

ROKA doesn’t just design doors. The company designs the moment of entry — the transition point between the outside world and the interior — which reveals something about a person, building, or idea. GRANO’s bold, sophisticated design embodies this philosophy, welcoming you to discover more.

Visionary Collaboration: ROKA × De Castelli

GRANO’s success is the result of two worlds meeting: the precision of Polish engineering and the craftsmanship of Italian metalworking. Our collaboration with De Castelli exemplifies synergy, where every element — from concept to final detail — is crafted in the name of quality, artistry, and durability. This alliance pushes the boundaries of style, creating a new language of luxury entryways.

Design that lasts

GRANO is a complete design — visual, emotional, and functional. It’s a door that tells a story. It’s about the future of design, combining craftsmanship and technology. It’s about architecture that isn’t afraid of detail. It’s also about a brand that doesn’t compromise.

For ROKA—the brand born from the transformation of RK Pivot Doors—GRANO is the next chapter in the history of innovation. For the design world, GRANO is proof that a door can be an icon. It’s an entrance — an experience.
